It feels like the first day of school, and I've just cracked open a pristine notebook! Whether it's writing or painting, a blank canvas has always sent butterflies through my stomach. If you've been kind enough to follow my Instagram journey over the past 12 years (can you believe it?), thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you're new here, a warm welcome to you!
I'm a UK-born artist who's called New York home since 2004. While I've wielded a paintbrush for over two decades, crafting words in this format feels like uncharted territory. You see, as a painter and textile designer, I've learned to let my brushstrokes express what words often cannot. It's a language I'm fluent in.
As you may already know, I host a show on Magnolia Network called "Art in Bloom with Helen Dealtry." It's a meditative painting show that you can follow along with or simply relax to if painting isn't your thing. I'm thrilled to share that there are now 3 seasons available to stream on MAX and the Discovery channel! I'm incredibly proud of what we accomplished in those 24-ish episodes, and the feedback I've received from you all has been overwhelmingly supportive and positive. Thank you for watching and for spreading the word.
It's been wonderful getting to know you through Instagram, my in-person workshops, and the show. However, each of these platforms has its limitations when it comes to connecting on a more personal level. That's why I'm starting Bits & Blobs - to bridge that gap. And, I'm doing Substack!
